Safety Hints For Repairing Home Appliances

Handicap Ramp by nathangibbs

My family, a very LARGE family, ventured to Baltimore to visit their much talked about Aquarium. Ticket prices are around $22 for adults and children ages 3 to 11 are around $13. Children 3 and under are admitted for free. Sometimes, families are not admitted when they purchase tickets during times of big crowds (the time you can enter will be printed on your ticket). We got there fairly early on a weekday, so we were admitted immediately.

The first thing I notices is that strollers are not allowed inside the aquarium. There is a stroller check in near the front entrance. It is free to check your stroller. Our children are a bit older, so strollers aren't used very often, but I pitied the families with smaller children and babies in tow. My sister-in-law had to carry around her 7 month old daughter for 3 hours, and it became tedious at times.

The first exhibit we found inside the Aquarium was the stingray exhibit. The kids were entranced by the 260,000 gallon pool filled with stingrays. We got to see a diver in the tank, feeding the stingrays. In that tank was a green sea turtle that was missing his front flipper. According to the Aquarium, he was rescued in New York, and the flipper was severely infected, so it was amputated to save his life. He now happily swims along with the rays in the large pool.

We moved along to the massive fish displays. This one was called Maryland: Mountains to the Seas and contained fish and other species native to Maryland's waters. I must say that the display cases for the fish were a bit disappointing; all the fish were in small, encased tanks, and no more than 10 people could fit in front of a tank at a time. We were a group of 18, so it took a while for everyone to be able to see the different displays, and it felt like we could only glance at the displays before we had to move on for the next group to see the displays. Although not all the fish were "beautiful", some of the displays were very interesting. My children got to see many fish that normally wouldn't be seen at most aquariums. I will say, though, that there is an overabundance of species of catfish, and after a while, I was ready to move on from the many, many catfish I had seen. There was another area called Surviving Through Adaptation. This display was all about how animals adapt for survival. The children had an enjoyable time at the stone fish display, attempting to locate the fish, as stonefish beautifully blend in with the rocks in their surroundings. We also got to see a giant octopus slime around the tank.

We stopped for lunch at the Aquarium Café, and we were shocked at the overpriced food. It cost us $35 for my family of 5 to eat a mediocre meal, and that was because they had a "special" that my husband and I decided to eat just to save us from paying $9 for a burger combo.

After lunch, we moved on to the shark display. My children were thrilled with the Aquarium's display. The shark tank was basically a circular tank you walked around on a ramp to see. It was really dark in the shark area. There were nurse sharks, sandbar sharks, saw sharks and the sand tiger sharks. I was a little disappointed in the lack of selection, as it seemed they only had a handful of species, but I suppose that trapping a shark for the purpose of placing it in an aquarium is not as easy a task as one would think. The kids, though, were entranced. We got to see a shark feeding (or an attempt at it, as the sawshark turned its nose up at the fish on a stick).

The Atlantic Coral Reef was one of my favorite displays at the Aquarium! This also was a circular tank, but it was brilliantly lit and the abundance of fish amazed us all. The puffer fish, the most massive one we'd ever seen, was a huge hit! We watched, in a trance, as many, many different schools of fish swam back and forth.

We moved along to the Tropical Rain Forest exhibit, which mostly included birds. We were entertained by one particular bird's loud call. The birds were colorful and fascinating to watch. The display also included tarantulas (yuck!) and frogs native to the Tropical Rain Forest. We walked out of the Tropical Rain Forest display to see the various frogs on display. There were poisonous and non-poisonous frogs on display.

The last display we approached at the Aquarium (due to 12 tired children) was Animal Planet Australia. They displayed fish found in Australia, including a lungfish. A lungfish can breathe on land for up to three days, which is good for them during droughts that are common in parts of Australia. There were freshwater crocodiles, bats(!), turtles, and a beautiful waterfall display upon entrance.

Of course, we had to visit the Aquarium Gift Shop so the children could take home a memento of their fun day at the National Aquarium of Baltimore. Stuffed animals at the gift shop are reasonably priced, and it seems they had a vast number to choose from, so no one takes home the exact same toy!

A few more comments: The only way up to the displays was via escalator, which is really fun when you have a five and three year old who are deathly afraid of escalators. There are elevators if you want to go down instead of up, but there are signs saying this is for handicap "only". We looked for stairways, but didn't see any. And, if you park in the Aquarium parking lot, be prepared to pay $21 for parking.

All in all, the family had a great time, especially the children. The parents noticed the overcrowding problem, along with the lack of ability to exit a floor to go to a lower one, along with the mediocre yet overpriced food in the Aquarium Café.

Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO) - Tips On How To Retire Wealthy From Buying Penny Stocks? - Penny Stock Wizard

This may appear to be rather improbable,, but with the hottest craze of people getting into penny stock investing; alot of ordinary, everyday folks have been earning some serious coin from just 1 or 2 deals - buying penny stocks that all cost you less than a share to obtain.

Yes, I'm entirely mindful that this appears like alot of hogwash, but you would be very mistaken if you presume that this isn't really going on everyday. We have seen tons of businesses whose stock price had dropped to virtually pennies per share and in some conditions fractions of a penny per share, that suddenly spiked to 2, 3 or as high as 10 to 20 times that price in just a few days.

Don't believe me? It takes merely a minute to locate one of the common occurrences in the penny stock market - Sunpeaks Ventures, Inc.. (SNPK). Once you type in that ticker in to your preferred finance site, and look at a historical chart for say four months or so; you'll notice right off that this company's stock was merely $.43 a share about the middle of March, then leaped amazingly as high as .40 in only a few weeks. It wouldn't take a lot of mathematics to understand that just 0 would've turned into just about 00 in just a matter of weeks. Because of this everyday men and women are able to quit their jobs and just trade one or two penny stocks a month, at the same time having the capacity to pay all their bills and live easily.

By conducting a little due diligence, you can realize great earnings in penny stocks; and it doesn't take the long-term investing that you commonly have to be prepared for when you invest in your typical blue chip stocks. Stocks of the big guys might see a 5% rise in a week (and they'll call that a great week), but if you've only got 0 to invest - making in a week is really not cause to jump up and down... best you can do with that kind of gain is go to a movie... by yourself!

Just as with any investment, even penny stock investing has risks, but think of this: if you're able to invest $500 in a penny stock and likely turn that small investment into thousands within weeks (and I don't mean 52 weeks) - the risk/reward ratio weighs hugely in your benefit. On the contrary, you could invest in nice "safe" blue chip companies and maybe see a gain of a couple hundred bucks a year.. that's if you don't invest in top of the line blue chips like Tyco, Enron or Adelphia...lol.

Right now, we're paying close attention to Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO). This particular stock went from dormant to trading over 1 million shares as of last Thursday. The price kept constant all day on Thursday, even with the heavy trading (staying at $.10 per share), but then on Friday -things started to change ( the stock closed at $.135 - a 35% gain in One day). At the time of this writing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. What to take notice of with this company is it's fundamentals; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

Home Improvement Ideas You Can Use Today

Appliance Repair in STAFFORD, VA by appliancehub

When I bought my first washer and dryer it was to replace the older equipment in my first home and as a single woman I didn't need a large washer or dryer. When my husband and I moved, our new home didn't have a washer and dryer, so we took them with us. The washer and dryer were purchased from Eagle hardware, which is now Lowe's in Tukwila. I had them for at least fifteen years before my husband and I finally replaced them with larger Kenmore models from Sears. In that time, my dryer needed repairs twice because of a loud squeaking noise that complained as the clothes dried.

I called the Appliance Repairman, located at 11921 SE 212th PL, Kent, WA, (253) 630-9924,

because they were listed toward the front of the phone book and also because they were quite close to my home in Renton. On both occasions that I needed the Appliance Repairman's washer repair and dryer repair, I was quite satisfied with the service provided and the amounts I was charged.

When I called the Appliance Repairman's office, the phone call was answered promptly and I received an appointment for the next day. They gave me a two-hour slot when they'd likely arrive and showed up on time. This was wonderful. I never had to wait around wishing I could skip out and catch lunch. They notified me that they'd have to charge a fifty dollar minimum home service call charge the first time, and a thirty-dollar minimum minimum home service call charge the second time. In both cases the work required totaled more than the minimum charge so I only paid for parts and labor.

The dryer repair job that the Appliance Repairman performed involved lubing the glides, soler pulley and rear drum bearings for a cost of $76. Six years later, the dryer repair job that the Appliance Repairman performed was a transmission replacement totaling $200. The dryer repair work was needed because the transmission was leaking oil. In both cases the dryer repair solved the noise. The Appliance Repairman had all of the parts and tools needed to do the job in his van.

After completing the dryer repair, both times the Appliance Repairman didn't need to do a washer repair. The washer repair work he did was simply to do a quick check that no work was needed. I found the Appliance Repairman quite knowledgeable, helpful and professional and when the new washer and dryer break down, I'll be sure to call him.

Handling Home Appliance Repair Like A Pro With These Tips

Appliances & Repair sign by RickM2007

Repainting is an inexpensive way to modernize a dated appliance or to coordinate the colors of your appliances with your kitchen's color scheme. It is a relatively easy process. Here's how to use appliance paint to give your kitchen or laundry room appliances a new look.

1. Choose the right paint. Be sure to purchase appliance paint especially formulated to paint household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and dishwashers. These paints are not for use on or near surfaces that get hot, such as stove tops. For those surfaces, be sure to purchase a heat-resistant paint. Also there are specialty appliance paints for resurfacing the inside of a microwave.

Appliance paint comes in brush-on and spray-on versions. Spray-on paint is best if you are planning to repaint the entire appliance, while brush-on paint is preferable it you are touching up chips or dents.

At the same time you purchase your paint, buy any other equipment you will need such as spray paint applicators, brushes, tarps, masking tape. And don't forget safety equipment, such as gloves, masks and goggles. You can purchase appliance paint at most hardware or home improvement stores.

2. Read the instructions for the appliance paint you've chosen carefully before starting your project.

3. Unplug the appliance and move it to a well-ventilated area. A garage or outdoors is ideal, but if you have to paint the appliance indoors, be sure that it is in an area where you can open windows or doors. Wherever you plan to paint it, there should be plenty of room around the appliance so that you can move freely and easily access all surfaces. Place the appliance on a tarp or on newspaper to protect the floor.

4. Clean all appliance surfaces well with soap and water to remove dirt, grease and dust. If there is any rust on the surface, remove it and treat the area with a rust deterrent product. Be sure the appliance is completely dry before you start to paint.

5. Use masking tape to cover any parts of the appliance that you do not want to paint.

6. If you are using spray paint, apply the paint with a fluid, sweeping motion. You might start with a light mist of paint that barely covers the entire surface, followed by a second, even layer on top of this base. Let the paint dry thoroughly, then apply a second coat if desired.

If your appliance just needs a touch up not an entire facelift you can use appliance paint to cover scratches, chips or worn areas. The process is similar to painting the entire surface. Be sure to clean the area to be painted thoroughly, apply a thin layer of paint, let it dry thoroughly then paint again if necessary.
